President’s Game of Chicken Over The Fiscal Cliff

We are at a point where no five minute period on any news channel can go without a breathless mention of the “fiscal cliff.”  President Obama, being the arrogant powermonger that he is, has aimed his political car at the Republicans in congress and dared them not to move.

Time for conservatives to build a political wall that will absorb the impact.

The president is going out on the campaign trail again, using a starry eyed news herd to propagate his intention to set his feet in stone on his positions. Provided with plenty of cameras, he is telling the country that the Republicans in congress are about to throw the country into financial turmoil.

This notwithstanding that his clear position is basically raise taxes and spend more money.

But the Republicans have a huge opportunity, if they can find their …… well, if they can summon the will to use it.

President Obama’s unrestrained, unhidden arrogance.

The president has proposed that he be given the sole power to raise the debt ceiling as necessary in the future. In other words, abolish congress in the process.

For liberals that would mean unrestrained spending, which they see no problem with. All the talk about “mortgaging our children’s future” should be clear to all that it is nothing but “politispeak”.

Madness.

To even the most idiotic liberal, the president’s proposal should make them uncomfortable. And anybody outside that classification should be taking a hard look at what he is threatening with it.

Even the most liberal Democrats in congress are not going to go for their power to be waived. They still have to keep their jobs in elections over the next few years.

Regardless, the president apparently doesn’t care if he goes down in history as a power hungry monster trying to become the first dictator of the United States.

The Republicans have to find something resembling courage at this point. They are showing a lack of spine that is staggering.

John Boehner should call for an immediate vote in the House Of Representatives on the President’s proposal for absolute power in the national debt. That should be done while making it clear at every media opportunity that the president is trying to obtain dictatorship.

Conservatives have to ensure that America is as disturbed as it should be at the president’s proposal.

Then let the Democrats have a choice. Enter a proposal that does not provide “unspecified” entitlement reform and cuts in spending.

Or let the country go past the deadline with the president in the clear position of an aspiring dictator in front of the American people. An aspiring dictator that is putting his slobbering quest for power above any concern for the country.

Republicans, get a grip. Use what you have. Stick to principles.

Put what the president really is up on the big screen for all the world to see.

That way if a deal on the debt ceiling is not reached, at least the American people will have a clear picture of who to focus on.  Then let’s see how many Democrats want to ride with the foul odor that will be the Obama administration.
